Computer Hardware

The computer system consists of three IBM compatible PC Pentium – IV connected in a Network with the following specification: -

·        2.6 GHz

·        512 MB   Memory

·        256 KB Cache RAM

·        3 1/2” floppy drive  (1.44MB)

·        40 GB Hard disk

·        17” SVGA Color Monitors

·        CDR RW Drive

·        Keyboard and Mouse

·        Network and Modem

·        RS 232 Serial Interface

·        Parallel Port

·        USB Ports

·        CD ROM 48x

All Computers are networked in a Master Slave Configuration and share data.

Drill Data, Gas Data and Mud Data are displayed on both the screens.

The Data on the Master Screen can be displayed on remote Monitors, which can be installed in different locations on the Rig.

The Calibration, Storage and Retrieval of data is done by the Master and the printing is done by the slave.

There are 4 online 132 col. color printers attached to the computers for the on line printing /plotting of data continuous in Graphical mode with three parameter per printer.

There is one printer of the same specification for Depth based printing and one 132 col. color printer for offline work.

The Data on the Master Screen can be displayed on remote Monitors, which can be installed in the Company’s Man’s and the Tool Pushers offices.

High Visibility Explosion Proof Remote Monitors with view ability in Sunlight are installed on the Rig Floor.

Ø     Network based Plotting through color printers.

Ø     Data base both depth based and time based.

The computers in the Unit are provided with Dual Screens

The Normal Configuration with three computers in the unit will be to assign each computer to display a set of parameters in numerical and graphical modes.

System configuration normally is :

1 PC for Gas Data System

1 PC for Drill Data System

1 PC for Mud Data System

The PC assigned for the Gas data is usually assigned for Trip Monitoring   during tripping.

Though this is the usual configuration maintained the system can be configured easily by the user at site.

Outside the MLU the data is passed on through the Network to Computers in the Well –Site Geologist and Company Man’s office.

One Ex- Proof Monitor is place on the Drill floor with a configurable display.
